Project Location
A National Pride Project of the Government of Nepal, SMDMP aims to generate hydropower and provide irrigation to the southern plains of Madhesh Province. The project includes construction of a barrage on the Sunkoshi River to divert 67 cumecs of water through a 13.1 km concrete-lined tunnel using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The water will be channeled to a surface powerhouse on the Marin River in Kusumtar, Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli District.
